Our Writer’s Guidelines

So you fancy yourself at being a football writer but need some assistance in getting started. Well, fear not as we have created our Top tips on successful writing. Please review our writer’s guidelines below for more information as to what is needed to submit an article to the site.

We believe we have covered all the relevant bases below to give you an indication of what is required when writing and submitting an article to the site, however, if there is anything you need clarifying please do not hesitate to contact us via Twitter, our Facebook Page or through the site.

1. Topic

The choice of topic is all yours. It goes without saying that it needs to be relevant to Football in the 70’s and 80’s but aside from that you can choose whatever topic you desire. It could be an article about your favourite player, your favourite team, a ground you’ve visited during the 70’s and 80’s…basically anything.

2. Word Count

For an article to obtain a good Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) score it needs to be at least 300 words long.

3. Title

Titles should be short. 5 words at most. If your title is ” Norman Hunter Leeds Legend” then in your first paragraph you should try and include these words for SEO purposes.

4. Images

There is no need to include any images with your article. We will find a relevant image from our library and add it to your article for you.

5. Content

A good article needs to flow and be easily read. More than this it needs to be factual. There is nothing worse for both you as the writer and us as a hosting platform for you to have an article that will be picked apart by reader’s comments. So please check and check again if there are any fact-based statements in your articles.

6. How to Submit the article

Once you have completed the article please send it via email to admin@football7080.com We will create an author account for you and publish the article in your name on the site.

7. Article Promotion

As soon as your article is published our site will automatically publish the details to all social networks. This will include Facebook and Twitter. We aim to have any articles you send us online within 2 hours ( time zone permitting )

So there you have our writer’s guidelines. At this stage there really isn’t anything else you need to know to start writing for the site. As we mentioned earlier please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions about writing for the site or anything you think we can do to improve the site..
